73 degrees is a temperature that I can both fall asleep and wake up to. Also, some AC units have sleep timers.
I think the bigger problem is the energy you're wasting having the AC on all night...can't you cool the room and then go to sleep?

I had my AC set to 70 at my apartment (because we didn't need to pay for electricity :D). I was fine. What's so bad about waking up with the AC on? Get out of bed. :P
