People over sixty sometimes speak of having "senior moments". I have Charlie Brown moments: times when I do something so dumb or absentminded that I feel as if I'm channeling the comic-strip hero himself.
This morning, I participated in a poster session for all the students finishing summer-research programs at the University of Minnesota. The poster session took place in an alumni center with particularly wacky architecture. I arrived early and looked for a place to sit down while I waited for a chance to pin up my poster. I found a low platform. It had a channel of running water in front of it, which was narrow enough that I could easily sit on the platform without getting my feet wet. So I prepared to sit down, and it was only when I put my poster on the platform that I found the platform itself was covered with water: it was part of the fountain. The poster didn't warp, but the ink ran, so my poster was the only one there with a lot of weird stains on it.

Ah, you were at McNamara! Yeah, not noticing the pool is definitely a Charlie Brown moment. XD

There, that should help keep my ego in check.
(Yeah, it was the McNamara. Fun architecture, otherwise.)
