Much like "uppercase", scare quotes provide a "unique" kind of "emphasis". They can make "nearly" anything sound "suspect". "Some" "people" use them in order to "discredit" other people they don't agree with. But like everything else, "of course", quotation marks (or "inverted commas", as "Britishfolk" sometimes "adorably" call them) are best used in "moderation". And they certainly are no substitute for actually "justifying" one's "thinking".
