So I mentioned to a friend of mine that a guy I went out with was black, and he was "impressed," saying something like "look at you being all post-racial." When I asked why dating Asian or Hispanic guys didn't count as being post-racial, he responded that they were just "white with flavour."

When I first read the topic title, I parsed it like "green with envy", and I wondered what kind of food was most flavorful when white. But now I'm wondering why you're spelling "flavor" with a "U".
On topic, although your friend's word choice may not have been the best possible, he has something resembling a point, since racism against blacks runs a lot deeper in North America than racism against Asians or Hispanics.
