Zombies are on they're way out now, and vampires are still big but I think they've peaked. What do you think will be the next big thing? And what will be its vanguard (as Harry Potter was for wizards, or Twilight was for vampires)?
I'm guessing angels. Obviously including "hot fallen angels that will sleep with humans."

It's REALLY weird to see Jace screw up on a homophone.
I think superheroes might continue being the big thing for a while. I'd really like a watchable Superman movie but that probably won't happen. I don't know what the avatar of the new thing will be, but if it's just more excellent Batman movies I won't mind.
Your right, its weird to see Jace mess up on a homophone. I bet thats very important too him.
There actually going to make another Superman movie. Christopher Nolan, who made Inception and the latest Batman films, is going two right and produce it, so eye have high hopes.
I can see angels becoming the next big thing! Or fairies, which our pretty much the same but without the possibly polarizing religious connotations.

I'm with angels. Fairies have had a small, weird fan community built around them for centuries (I'm looking at you, Spenser), and while that didn't stop vampires from making it big, the fairy stuff is heavily tied in with neopagan movements and thus somewhat codified, while vampire stuff has been "Make your own **** up as you go along" more or less since its inception.
Alternately, I could see monster hunters doing it. They've made the occasional pop culture foray with Buffy and with movies like Van Helsing, The Brothers Grimm, and Blade. It's really just waiting for a cheesy romance novel.

It's just weird... I'm not trying to make James feel bad.
Is this the PMS marketing think-tank right here?
I have absolutely no opinions because my finger is on a popular culture pulse from 1870 or so.

It is weird.
Alternatively, the next big thing could be Swedish People.

Hm, I don't know. I've never been a fan of the fallen angel thing that crops up occasionally in pop culture. It's silly to me. I understand it represents tragedy and the idea of the duality of man, caught between righteousness and temptation, but isn't that what the werewolf is for anyways? I feel it's sort of tacky. That's not to say that they won't continue to be cropping up now and then, but I don't know if they'll ever really become a big deal.
Fairies will maintain their cult-ish following probably indefinitely but I don't see them becoming a popular subject.
Vampires are pretty cyclical, but yeah, I think most of us are sick and tired of them for the time being.
That all being said... I really don't know what will be "the next big thing." If I did I guess I'd be making it right now and reeling in the big bucks.

Julian May's Saga of Pilocene Exile is a good example of how one can put fairies to interesting use. In it, prehistoric Earth is overrun by aliens who end up inspiring fairy tales.

Oohhh... Wait, could it totally be aliens that will be big next?

I thought I saw upon the stair a little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today. Oh how I wish he'd go away.
I think those are called "Ancient Astronauts." Like that's a thing conspiracy theorists believe.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.
