Aw, nuts, I already voted straight-line Democrat.

I only vote if there is a candidate I support.

Voted straight Democrat.

4 hours away from where I'm registered to vote, no absentee ballot, and the political ads around here make me disgusted with humanity. No voting for me.

Well, there is a new accent of n00b language. It's called: Vet LUEser goes Foreign!-MegaSpy22

My votes ended up being a mixture. Nationally, I'm not too thrilled with one party, but locally, I approve of a recent decision and wanted to support it.

I thought I saw upon the stair a little man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today. Oh how I wish he'd go away.
I was tempted to vote for the former Madam, but I can't vote for any party whose symbol is a pot leaf.

Unfortunately it's really hard for me to get political today. All I really care about nowadays is education reform and alleviating poverty, the latter directly contingent on the former. And the environment. But I do that by going out and teaching inner city children, and using my interest in technology to create and contribute. And by recycling/buying local/not wasting/not eating meat.
It's just really hard to get passionate about taxes or the economy or jobs or healthcare. I get my paycheck, some is taken out for taxes to help others, fine, I pay my rent/utility/food, lather rinse repeat. Really hard to get worked up. Maybe those taxes could be spent better, but I don't nearly know enough about economics to really form an opinon.

PROUDLY voted straight Republican.
So, so excited to see how furious Obama is and see what idiotic claims he makes when the Republicans regain power.

I'm also starting to doubt the whole "my party against your party" basis of government. A lot of people have changed the world not as the result of some sort of competition against an opposing group.

As it should be. It shouldn't be voting republican or democrat. Pick who you agree with and go with it.
I routinely vote about half and half.

I almost never agree with the Repbulican platform, though. But I'm probably not in the best position to make informed opinions anyway.

You might start when you're paying 40 g's a year in taxes while trying to pay a mortgage, bills, and wondering how you are going to pay for your kids schooling. . .

I didn't realize my registration was for another city until I was too late for the absentee ballot :( I felt sad.

I think that will just make me try to be even more frugal than I already am...

If you say so. I can wait. I'm a very frugal guy myself. I still have my 36" tube tv from 14 years ago as the main set and internet speeds are as low as cable offers. I got in a fight with Harriet over whether she really needs a new winter jacket (her choice was $179, cheapest she could find that would actually keep her warm) since the one she uses now is 5 years old. I don't buy anything for myself that I can't find at a yard or church sale. Temperature in the house is kept at 66 degrees in the winter.
The only thing I ever spend money on is food. I'll opt for the brand name anything over store brand anytime. I guess everyone needs a vice.

I wasn't planning on voting until about 5 PM today. I made a post on my blog about it: http://dpitch40.blogspot.com/2010/11/my-political-rantchange-of-heart.html I didn't have time to do much research except on the governatorial race, in which I voted for the independent candidate. I think partisanship is honestly the most fundamental problem American faces.

I was going to vote for the guy who wasn't Andrew Cuomo because of the massive corruption I associate with him, but then I realized that it was New York government so it's not like the other guy was going to be less corrupt. So I ended up voting for Cuomo over the gay marriage thing because he's marginally better on civil rights (and no worse on stealing money and cronyism).
That and I couldn't bring myself to vote for either of my district's candidates for the House. They're both altogether scummy and support policies I don't care for. I'm pretty disillusioned with the whole process. I would've voted with Rent is 2 Damn High there if only they'd put forth a candidate.

We really need a "none of the above" option sometimes.

There are "none of the above" options, though: no vote and write-in. But I only think either makes sense when there's only one official candidate. When there are at least two, the best way to do something meaningful with your vote is to pick the least unacceptable candidate. Remember, guys, democracy doesn't happen if we all refuse to vote because we don't like any of the candidates.

Hmm... the video really seems like the same sort of propaganda stuff I've seen for years. I would have been intrigued if it offered actual evidence of any of its points, but really. I mean, when Democrats have office, everyone complains. When Republicans have office, everyone complains. It's not new. Showing pictures of protests as validation? As if there haven't been protests against everyone in power. No president endures good approval ratings for long. And what's with the socialism scare tactics? America's still got its panties in a bunch from the Cold War and we're playing on those fears? And corruption... yeah there's some yahoos and bad boys and girls in there. That's the thing about politicians- they're always corrupt, no matter who they swing for. We can try our best to rid ourselves of it, but as soon as a corruption-killer takes office he finds himself succumbing to the same vices.
I mean damn. This is a depression the likes of the '30s. It didn't occur because Obama took office. The economy doesn't just magically fix itself because someone wants it to do so. I basically wind up hearing a lot of "See? It doesn't work. Unemployment went up to 10% from 8%!" when many economists agree that, lacking certain governmental plans that take heat, unemployment could easily have reached further than 10%.
You roll with the punches of a depression and get blamed for being punched in the gut, when a lot of the time it looks like the "other guy's plan" was to just get decked in the face and lay unconscious.
Look, I'm no economic guru. I'm not even saying the political stance of the video is wrong (though I don't personally agree with it) and I wouldn't like to talk politics really. I'm just saying I don't like propaganda, no matter who it comes from, liberal, conservative, or moderate which I'll advertise myself as.
