My cousin just gave birth to her second daughter, Hayley. Which doesn't make her my 'real' niece, but she'll end up calling me 'Uncle Jon' just the same.
My other niece likes messing with me. Like this one time, I was lying down and she put a mini M&M in my ear... and it fit perfectly. Luckily, I was able to get it out.
Or the other time she woke me up from a nap, handed me a toy laser gun, and said, "Uncle Jon, can you use this?"
I'm really happy for them right now.

That would make you a first cousin once removed, right?

You get to call your first cousin once removed a niece or nephew? Dude, they didn't tell me that! I've always wanted to be an uncle, and I've had first cousins once removed for years.

You have to remember that I'm Filipino and we define 'family' pretty loosely, though. I'm not 100% sure that we're even blood related, but nobody seems to care. I'm her uncle and that's what counts, haha.

I have two nieces, also! My half-sister is quite my elder, you see.
