The game ends after the main quest. What the hell?

Why would you do that, Bethesda? Why would you this one time decide that the end of the main quest would result in an inability to go and finish all the other quest lines?

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

The level cap sucks too.

Fortunately the DLC fixes both of those problems. Unfortunately it costs money.

Yeah, Broken Steel extends it and the game doesn't end after you finish it. But it was stupid.

Wait, but I bought the Game of the Year Edition. It should have the DLC native? I think?

I wonder if I have to check a box somewhere.

Ah. Why yes, I do need to check them. Under "data files" in the launcher, like all the other Bethesda games I've ever played.

With Broken Steel in place, do all the other events/quests/etc stick around, or should I go load from before I assaulted that thing where I talked the thing to death?

Oh, and another thing, what the hell was with that? I'm not saying you should never talk a big bad to death; it was awesome in KoToR2, but that was a grueling, slow process. This was like two skill checks.

Yeah, it was kind of lame. Being a hoarder, I probably had fifty rad-x and fifty radaway. I survived in the chamber pounding on the doors for minutes, while they all stared sadly at me, refusing to allow me to exit. Bastards.

Yeah, that was another thing. I had the Hazardous Whatever suit on, AND the radiation resist perk AND 50 Rad-X, and like 20 Rad Away.

Oh, and Fawkes was with me. He was standing right there.

Incidentally, having installed Broken Steel and having to replay the last 45 seconds of the game, you can totally just ask Fawkes to do it. He goes "my dear friend, I suppose this is good-bye. Oh wait, I see where you're going with this." They still give you the "you failed to live up to your father's example" ending like if you make Lyons activate it, though, they just have pictures of Fawkes as Three Dog talks about how you sent "a true hero." I find the whole thing silly.

You can still go in at the end, instead of Fawkes. You and Sarah both get badly injured (not sure what happened to her, maybe she rescued you after you went in and collapsed?) and you get the good ending, then you wake up in a bed.

Yeah, I think I prefer the satisfaction of not being an idiot to the good ending, though. Sending Fawkes should be the good ending.

Aye. It's not like you're not being heroic. Fawkes is immune* to radiation. You're not. It's literally no different than a walk in the park for him, no?

* right?

That's the impression I got. When you wake up, he's a-okay, so I figure he must have something going for him.
