Yeah, and I'm especially worried for our soldiers in Afghanistan. I know a couple guys who are there right now.

Well, I work at O'hare airport which was labeled the busiest airport in the world for several years of my life that I can remember. It's also located in a major city and well...it's a freakin airport, AND I have work today. BUT, it's probably just pessimism and paranoia so I shouldn't be afraid to go into work later today right...right? >.>

Well my (perhaps overly optimistic) reading is that they've had ten years to launch another major domestic attack and they have either lacked the resources or been foiled. Depending on how much of an egotist bin Laden was, I suppose I can see the charismatic leader of a major movement writing orders that "in the event I'm killed, everybody just go and blow a bunch of stuff up and don't worry about dying in the process, 'cause y'know. I'll be dead, and who cares after that?" But I can also see a more tactically minded successor nixing that, so who knows?

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

I heard on the radio that retaliatory attacks are at their highest possibility now.

I pray to God that nothing happens. Even as an open Republican I want this conflict to end.

While retaliatory attacks are very likely, I'm not sure they're going to happen. The bastard was hiding in a heavily-fortified complex in Pakistan this entire time, living luxury on his fat ass and doing nothing. If Bin Laden really wanted to strike a blow against the U.S., he would have done it a lot sooner. Now that the brains behind the operation have been blown (pun intended), I feel like the terrorists have lost their stronghold. If they garner the necessary resources and have the drive to do so, it's likely. I pray to God that nothing happens.

Perhaps you should study up on the subject a little more before spouting nonsense like that. Bin Laden was never the brains behind the operation, just the money. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was in charge of operations till his arrest (look it up, he was behind a number of attacks) and currently Adnan Gulshair el Shukrijumah is considered Mohammed's replacement. Bin Laden has never really done anything besides sitting on his a** and issuing demands via grainy video while footing the bill.

And my point behind this topic is that there may be a few reprisal attacks that get through because all of the attacks that have been broken up in the past have been broken up because they were being planned out in advance, which which takes time. Time enough for the CIA and other departments to get a hold of it and block it in one way or another. The concern I have is that they will half-a** something or several somethings which won't give our guys enough time to find out about it and break it up.

Or maybe I'm being overly paranoid. I hope it's just that.

Historically terrorists are at their most dangerous when their leader has just been killed.

We cut the head of the snake off, but the venomous body is still very much writhing.

But these colors don't run. We as a nation will repel every and all attempts.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have inspired Call of Duty to play.

It's a possibility, but isn't it always?
It's utterly impossible to try to ready oneself for a terrorist attack, so you might as well not worry about it.

Certainly it would be preposterous to imagine that any amount of money or caution could prevent terrorist attacks entirely. The most the government can do is follow up on leads. The most we citizens can do is try to be aware that we're not quite as safe as we think we are, so that if another attack occurs, we don't freak out and respond by starting more wars.

You do realize that the terrorist attack was Bin Laden's idea, right? Every source of information that I've read (and I've heard about 9/11 and this guy A LOT) has said he was the leader of the terrorist extremists in Al Qaeda. So, given that he came up with the idea to attack the World Trade Center kind of makes him the "brains behind the operation." What pisses me off is that Bin Laden had his college education in New York how many years ago... Whoever shot him should be promoted...

Good news! I made it to and from work unharmed. Really though, I wasn't worried to begin with. I just like being overly dramatic sometimes.
