My family's planning a road trip in a week. We're looking to go down south -- around Charleston, Savannah, Atlanta sort of area. I know we've got a few PMSians from the region, so can anyone recommend some interesting sights, points of local culture, good restaurants, or whatnot in the area?

Was it a car or a cat I saw?
You're very brave. I'm sweltering up here in New York; I tremble to think of the South.

Well I can certainly recommend going to Atlanta. I've lived here for years and there's just so much great stuff here.
Let me know what exactly you want to do where you go (Sight-seeing? Tourist attractions?) and I can recommend from there!

As I said: Interesting sights, points of local culture, good restaurants. Anything that if we went by the city and didn't see, we should regret. We have about a day and a half to spend there.

Oh, well without a doubt I can recommend Atlanta. A day and a half here will show you the crown jewel of the south and we have a lot to offer! The basic sight-seeing recommendations are:
1. The Georgia Aquarium (largest and most spectacular in the world)
2. World of Coca-Cola (my personal favorite; the main location of the soft drink, tours are awesome)
3. Underground Atlanta (cool shops, cool atmosphere, great vibe)
4. Fernbank Museum (natural history, has awesome dinosaurs)
5. Six Flags Over Georgia (theme park, not as good as Disney or Universal but you'll have fun)
Restaurants you CAN'T miss here:
1. Maggiano's Italian (family-style Italian)
2. The Vortex Sports Bar (best burger in the city)
3. The Varsity (an Atlanta legend)
4. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (expensive but amazing)
5. Tilted Kilt (waitresses have their "goods" out... Maybe this one for just you and your dad...)

Tilted Kilt is a national (or at least growing) chain. If you miss out then, you might be able to find one close to you (from what I've heard at least) =p
Watch out for the pig farms in North Carolina...unless you're into that sort of thing...

Ruth's Chris is a chain too.
Maggiano's can be found in over 20 states as well.

Everything I have would be enough for someone else, but I want more.

^ Well I didn't know all that.
The Varsity, then.
