Poor Jess. Her whole family needs dental work all the time. They take perfectly good care of their teeth and just seem to have terrible genetic factors. Then there's me... I have never had any major cavity or other dental problem and I am not all that careful about my teeth.
Huh...never really considered it to be genetics before. My parents have absolutely terrible teeth, but my teeth are borderline perfect. Hell, I still got my wisdom teeth, and they aint going nowhere. I've needed braces for about 2 years, and had to get a filling for one of my wisdom teeth, since it came in with a lot of cavities. But other than that...my teeth are pretty damn good.

My dad has had various dental problems since he was a young man, which require several grand in maintenance every few years. My mom and I have been much luckier. We all take good care of our teeth, though.

Fred: "in genesis noah also put two of every animal on a boat when he was 600."
My girlfriend, who's in dental school right now, mentions that part of dental health problems may come from dry mouth and lack of salivary flow. So in a sense, that could be a genetic factor coming into play.

I have so much saliva in my mouth right now. You guys have no idea.

I don't think I'd like to have an idea.

I take good care of my teeth, but I've been told by my dentist that some of my molars have 'deep grooves,' meaning that no matter how well I brush, floss, etc., there's going to be spaces in my teeth that I just won't be able to clean and that cavities will inevitably form in. Until last week I had never met anyone who this also happened to (a friend of mine mentioned it when we were trading dentist stories.)
My jaw also pops when I open it to a certain width, but it doesn't hurt. My dentist always asks me if it bothers me but it never actually has.

Kylo, I've got the same thing going on with my wisdom teeth, which is why I needed that filling I posted earlier.
