Apartment hunting: stalking the wild studio/1-bed

My current apartment is a four-bed, two-bath apartment aimed at students (U Minnesota), from which all of my roommates have moved out. Meaning I get a 1111-square foot apartment with laundry in the unit and all utilities except electricity after the first $15 for $615 a month. I am really enjoying living alone, so I've been having to lower my expectations from this place looking for a studio/1-bedroom in downtown Minneapolis. I'm a bit new to apartment hunting (I knew all of the guys in this apartment and one of them invited us to live here), so my policy is to not rent anything I haven't personally inspected.

...I'm not entirely sure what the point of all of this is, except to maybe request tips for finding a good one. I have three main leads now, one of which I have been to and another of which I am visiting tomorrow. The third, which is looking like my favorite, I'm not sure when I'll get to see, and I'm worried some of my options might get taken before then. I have until August 9th to move.

Also, as long as I keep disappearing from GameFAQs for indeterminate lengths of time: friend requests? WTH? Is Toaps someone on this board?

"did you know that in real life all those stats for how often the average person thinks about sex are ACTUALLY about ice cream?"

It's easier (as with so many things) to find an apartment when you already have one. Check out a bunch while your need is less than urgent and don't settle.

Also pay attention to how thin the walls are.

Also move somewhere with several all-night fruit markets.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.
