Wow, that was a one-sided game. (Superb Owl topic.)

I mean, I don't really like football, but I enjoyed watching it just to see how much more ridiculous it could get.

I was with friends for the game and we were going crazy the whole time.

We also had fun prop bets. We were wildly inappropriate during the national anthem, hoping she'd hold the last note out even longer to go past the over/under of 2.5 minutes.

Other prop bets seen here:

Nice. I watched the game and made steak and shrimp for the family (just me, Jess, kids). I predicted accurately both the winners of the game and the shirtlessness of the RHCP.

I watched the Kitten Bowl pretty hardcore. I never expected to watch three hours of kittens playing, but then it happened.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

Also thoroughly enjoyed the halftime show. Bruno Mars is a fantastic entertainer and it made me want to learn how to do the crazy footwork thing he did. And RCHP was also fantastic. I just wished the show was longer! Four and a half songs does not a halftime show make.

I bawled like a baby when the Seahawks won. I have no shame in admitting this.

Our whole party went absolutely nuts with every score. The collective level of happiness was through the roof. And then the game ended and we kept alternating between getting excited and shushing each other so we could hear if 12th Man would be mentioned or who Smith was going to thank first as MVP.

HeyDude posted...
Um, why did you?

They've been my favorite sports team since I was a kid, so it was a pretty big moment. I also got pretty emotional because the last time they were in the Super Bowl was the last time I spoke to one of my friends before she died. She knew I was a big fan, so she called me during halftime of that game. The joy of victory and the grief of the loss of my friend both got to me simultaneously.

Man that's tough... I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone that I'm sorry for your loss...

Back to the game, I really thought Denver was going to run away with it if they were able to score on one of their first 2 possessions, otherwise it would be a real close game. Wrong on both counts there. Peyton Manning looked like a scared little girl out on the field.

I'll give Denver's D credit, they did everything they could do to limit the damage Peyton was causing until they just gave out. Regardless, the better team clearly won.

The group I was with was mostly rooting for Seattle, for bizarre and arguably inappropriate reasons, but they're as big into football/sports as I am into caviar (like, ew), while I'm a pretty big enthusiast.

Also, this is a thing: http://redhotchilipeppers.com/news/454-a-message-from-flea

I was pretty bummed RHCP only got 1 song, and there was no "surprise" guest this year (such as Detiny's Child and Usher in the past), but Bruno did a pretty damn good job. Dude is not a bad drummer either.

Jakob, glad you got to see your guys win.

I agree with his reasoning that that was the realest thing he could've done, under the circumstances.

One report says that about 700,000 people turned out for the big parade + celebration and rally in Seattle today for the Seahawks. Seattle's population including all of its neighborhoods maxes out at about 900,000 people. That's insane.

Sadly I was not one of them. Having taking Monday off and half a day on Tuesday for a dentist appointment, I couldn't afford to take another day away from work.

I formerly thought that Bruno Mars was one of Sasha Baron Cohen's characters. I was somewhat confused when I heard he was singing at the half-time show.
