Or should I ask in categories, like favorite Traditional board game vs favorite Designer or favorite European?

Monopoly and it's multitude of spin-off version (most notably Star Wars).

Star Wars Monopoly is the only one I know of that actually altered the gameplay slightly by changing two of the Chance cards.

Always a good time.
But only if I get to play as Obi-Wan.

I suspect I would get slaughtered at the competitive level, but I've always enjoyed a good game of chess.

It's not a real 'board game' but I really like Bananagrams.

Love Bananagrams. RISK is probably my favorite though.
Settlers of Catan is really the only one I've played consistently in my 20's, though I've always enjoyed the classics, like Trivial Pursuit and Sorry.

I'm a big fan of Monopoly and Sorry.

We've played a whole lot of Dominion and that's really great. Might be my favorite, might now. I also love Clue.

I actually played Dominion a few weeks back (when I was in that city of which we need not speak again). It was an alarming amount of fun.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

I just bought the game Shai brought to play on Saturday (Innovation) and have already played it 4 times with my bf. So, I really like that one.

Anti-Monopoly actually changes the rules of Monopoly quite a bit, and I think the game flows a lot better! You guys should check that out.
Diplomacy is an interesting change of pace when it comes to board games, and worth mentioning too.

Nice. Yeah, Innovation's up there for me. Last Wednesday I got to play the new expansion, which makes the game at least twice as complicated. It also seats up to 5 players but we didn't dare try it with that many.

Was it a car or a cat I saw?
What changes does it make?

- There are 110 new cards, including 5 new special achievements that come into play along with the old ones. All the new cards have blue backs so they're pretty easily distinguishable.
- Some cards can actually add new cards to the available achievements pile, though costs more to achieve an age that you've already achieved before.
- Accordingly, you need one more achievement than before to win.
- The decks are now set up with a random mix of old and new cards, and vary in size depending on how many players there are.
- Some new tech cards have, in place of one of their resource, a small dogma which, if it's showing, gets performed whenever the main dogma of the pile is performed.
- Some new tech cards have, in place of one of their resources, a bonus number. The highest bonus you have showing in your play area adds its value to your score, and every other bonus you have showing adds one to your score
- There's a new keyword Foreshadow, where you take a card from several ages up and put it in a pile called your Forecast. Then when you get around to melding a card of that tech level or above, you can additionally meld the card from your forecast and then preform the dogma on it for yourself only.
The manual's recommendation not to play the expansion with beginners is bolded and underlined.

And I felt confused trying to play Yu-Gi-Oh.

I was just at a friend's housewarming and her boyfriend moved in with her, and he has an absurd amount of board games. I'm excited to play them. I also won a game at the conference I went to for being the best blogger called Borderline, but it isn't very good.
