Which kind of flooring do you prefer? My new apartment has both (carpet upstairs in my room, hardwood downstairs/in the other bedroom). When I moved in, I though "Oh, I had forgotten how nice carpet feels just to walk around on, etc." But then this morning my boyfriend knocked over his water bottle off the nightstand and I thought "Ah yes, the downsides of carpet."

I prefer hardwood. The only time I've wished for carpet is when Ben would benefit from the softness of it, like if he falls down or bangs his head or whatever. Hardwood is easier to clean and in most cases really nice to look at. My house has no carpet whatsoever.

Only carpet if it matches the drapes.
