I dunno, man. There's something to be said for keeping clean. It takes more skill to be genuinely funny without breaking taboos, and it's nice to avoid the danger of upsetting people when you only mean to make them laugh. In other words, I liked the Wayside School series better than Catch-22.
Yes, I have just argued in favor of inoffensiveness, and I know this proves that I am the worse of philistines.
Not that sacred cows don't need to die; it's just that, for example, to make sexual puns is merely to beat a dead sacred horse.
