When I'm supposed to introduce myself, like when I meet someone for the first time in person, I say my whole name. Apparently, this isn't what people expect. Twice, people have thought I have a really long first name. And I notice that nobody says their own last name when they introduce themselves to me.
I guess that introducing oneself with just one's first name has the advantage of making clear what one expects to be called. On the other hand, it feels to me a little dishonest to not introduce oneself sufficiently to make one findable in directories and on the Web.

Is this something you just noticed?
Yes.

I did notice this when you called me for the PMS meet up a couple months ago. That said, I don't think it's really so strange.

I think it's more strange that you just noticed it than it is that you tend to introduce yourself by full name.
If you haven't observed by now that I'm generally an unobservant person, you might not be too observant yourself. So there.
