I started watching it now. The first episode had a bit too much gratuitous nudity and gore, but the subsequent episodes have been quite good. (I'm on the 5th now.)

I haven't. I never really got into Georgy.
Read up to book 4 and watched the whole first season. They really ratcheted up the gratuitous nudity for TV, but the gore's a bit tamer I think.

I thought about it, and I think it's because, say, when you have a scene in a brothel, but it's a normal conversation, you just focus on the conversation. But it's in a brothel, naturally there will be nudity in the background.

And that is pretty much what happened is a bunch of brothel scenes.
It might also be because sustained nudity is easier to watch than sustained gore.
