"Funemployed" is the word that my friends had adopted for me during my period of unemployment. (Incidentally, Funemployed is also a short webseries by some of my favorite Youtube movie producers.)
Last Monday and the Monday previous to that I interviewed for a position back at the University of Washington. I now work for the admin team as an office assistant and also their advancement/fundraising arm that raises money for scholarships and events. It's not the exact line of work that I imagine myself doing in the long term, but it's something that I've done before and I'm relatively happy with (being employed is better than being funemployed.)
The person who took me on (and whom I work directly under) is the VP for HR in the department and openly acknowledged that she expected me to take on the job while I was looking for other work, perhaps (and in her mind, hopefully) within the department. I couldn't be more thankful for the support the people in the department have given me.
So yeah. I'm employed again, and back in the world of higher ed. It's been a sometimes bumpy road, but at least now I'm back in the game.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.
