Ex-girlfriend's wedding this weekend: Wine?

It's strange because I'm not like, bummed, and don't like... care. I'm glad we're not dating and frankly uninterested in her life--I'm "happy for her" in a pretty shallow way. Any negative feelings on the situation are mostly the awkwardness on hearing about it from mutual friends.

Despite that, I feel like I should drink an entire bottle of wine in my house. That's what I would have done at one time in my life, and though on some level it feels silly now, it also feels appropriate.

I also worry that having become well-adjusted will spoil the effect, like the time I liveblogged drinking an entire bottle of wine and reinstalling Morrowind one Valentine's day. That was unambiguously awesome, and I had a great time. What if I just drink wine and play Assassin's Creed? Is that that much different than just playing Assassin's Creed?

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

If you're calling yourself "well-adjusted" in earnest, you've already gone all the way from angst to complacency. So clearly what you really ought to do is post something obnoxious on Facebook about how you're pleasantly surprised that she found somebody after all.

Fred: "in genesis noah also put two of every animal on a boat when he was 600."

But that's the opposite of what I would do.

Drunk Assassin's Creed sounds like a fantastic idea...depending on what part of the game you're up to. In the beginning/middle, go for it. Towards the end? I dunno. The ending missions can be frustrating, and being drunk will just not make it enjoyable.

A few weeks ago I started playing through the original again, so it's pretty fresh in my mind >_>;

It's Assassin's Creed 2, which I'm replaying. I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the first game, but I don't think I'll ever play it again because of the end missions.

(And because I really liked the short blade and the mapping was such that it was hard to use that once you get throwing knives.)

Actually I just read a thing about Mayans and accordingly may re-re-re-re-re-re-install Age of Kings.

(I link to the SA thread because although the article is edifying, the OP is effortful and full of contexts):

If you're not going and don't care about her life, why mark the occasion? Seems like there's no call for any wine or anything else in particular at all.

Oh, totally go for it then.

The occasion is marked because of a significant number of common friends and acquaintances who mark the occasion on the facebook. These fall into the groups:

1) People who were her friends first and/or better
2) People who were mine or more or less equal and have opted not to mention the event in any greater specificity

In any event, it's still rather unsettling for reasons I'm not clear on but which I imagine are universal and petty.

The odd thing is that I'm immensely happy with every part of my life. I like my present partner objectively better. We go better together in an intellectual sense; it has less of the folly of youth. Etc. etc. there is no confusion to the point.

Yet there is the slightest gall. I had forgotten the young woman before and to the present day, but at the present moment there is some gall.

I'm getting intoxicated which leads me to higher diction, up to a point.,
