Oh man. aLttP was my first Zelda game (the GBA version, however). I'll never forget how I got mixed up, and thought that the key in the third dungeon spawned on top of a pillar by accident, which led to me replaying the entire game, only to discover that was supposed to happen. But I'm seriously excited to hear that a sequel is coming to the 3DS. And the graphics are surprisingly true to the original, despite being in 3D. Also, Nintendo is FINALLY bringing EarthBound to the Virtual Console. I enjoyed Mother 3, so I'm quite excited for that. I might even get a WiiU sooner than I was planning. All in all, Nintendo had pretty cool announcements yesterday morning.

Yeah, just watched the trailer for that. Looks pretty cool. Funny story about the pillar, though. I can imagine the sorts of things you slowly begin to think as your paths to securing it are winnowed down, up until the ultimate conclusion that it was some unfair error in the game. Heh.

Similarly, in the Nintendo 64 games, I didn't know until I played Majora's Mask that you can make temporary fire arrows by shooting through torches, so I thought I was permanently stuck in the Forest Temple, and then the Water Temple, when I drew the Master Sword before getting Din's Fire.

"It's a handy thing, this experimental attitude," said Castle. "The scientist can be sure of himself before he knows anything. We philosophers should have thought of that."
