So here I am in my 23rd year (How I wish I was in SHERBROOK now....)
Wait, wrong thing.
So
here we are, at the end of our 8th year. That's now, officially, more
than 1/3 of my life that I've spent here at PMS, with you guys (and
gals). And it's funny, really, how time has worked here. The other day
I was talking with Wil, and we were reminiscing about the good 'ol days
of PMS. We were talking about how Wil was surprised that it's been
almost 8 years since Brandon's been here, since he remembered Jordan
being firmly established before then.
In reality, there's two
months of difference between their arrivals, but back in the Golden Age
of PMS, time moves so slowly. Days were weeks, weeks were months, and
everything was so fast paced.
I could bring up a discussion on
what qualifies as the Golden Age of PMS, but mostly I'm considering it
to be March 2001 to October 2001. I'd call the Silver Age the period of
time from then until the end of Return of Terror. Why do I stop then?
Well, because it's around that time (late 2002, maybe early 2003) that
time started to flow normally at PMS. Weeks were weeks, and months were
months.
So it's been 8 years, or more if we count time dilation.
I still talk with you people, here on the board and occasionally on
AIM, and that's more than I can say for any of the other friends I had
8 years ago (except maybe 2 or 3, a few times a year at most). We've
been together so long, even the people who weren't here at the
beginning, but came later, it's still been long for them. If it ever
came up that one of us could do something good for another, we would.
We're a cohesive group.
I know I've been a bit slacking, though
I'm always checking, and never do let the board fall below 50 topics.
In fact, I'd say the role that used to belong to me and DIM now goes to
Gary and Alex (and perhaps Jake), so maybe Gary should be writing this
topic. After all, I didn't even give you guys the PMS Awards when you
clamored about it for over a month. (I mean, I kept telling myself I'd
get around to it....)
But I'm here, writing the topic now. So it is. Here's to another 8.

Paper Mario Social: The Safe Haven of GameFAQs. (Board 2000083)
what do you mean, "you people"?
---
The Krusty Krab Pizza is the pizza for you and me.
Heh, I thought the same thing.

Anyone
who acts like an idiot on this board gets treated like one. If you want
to act the hormone-driven drool-monkey, you'll get mocked for it.
Oh damn, I forgot the most important part of this address:
Digitalpython,
see what I wrote? See how I talked about camaraderie and friendliness
and 8 years? And how I referred to everyone except Shai by their first
names? I'm calling you out. Tell us yours.

How about mimir?

Oh, I know Mimir's name, and so do at least 2
other PMSians, so it doesn't bother me personally, though I suppose you
can make a case for him as well.

My name's Ryan, silly. Have you forgotten already?

WARNING: This post may or may not (but probably does) contain very tasteless humor.
It's not Mimi, it's not Mirmir, it's Mimir!
You know, originally I kept my real name secret because I wanted to
separate real life from the internet as much as possible. As time goes
on, however, I'm realizing that may be less and less possible with the
advent of blogs and myspaces and youtubes. I may be clinging to a dying
tradition that will soon be rendered obsolete by the world around me.
Oh well.

Then I'm going to make sweet, sweet love to my instruction guide for Paper Mario: TTYD - Power of 3
Can we just call you Emitt?
---
Ocarinakid
No, we can't, because then I'll just keep thinking of Clara on the train, yelling "Emmett! Emmett!"

Hmm, how about Darryl (or any alternate spelling)?

Your desire will determine your destiny.
Clyde. Or maybe Ralph. Yeah. . .
