Firefox has been annoyingly sluggish, so I was thinking of changing. The main reason I never switched over before was that Chrome didn't have Linkification, critical for surfing GameFAQs. But now it does.
However, I can't seem to find a functional mouse gesture extension. And that seems pretty critical. All the ones I've tried have brought up the right-click menu when I go to use them, as opposed to doing the gesture. So, if someone uses it, what do you use?

Nope, had an issue with Firefox as well but switched to Palemoon. No longer have issues.

I like Chrome, although my understanding from Gizmodo or something is that the most recent builds of Firefox actually solved most of the problems that made Chrome way better, such that now Chrome only outcompetes FF when opening a new window (being ever-so-slightly slower opening new tabs etc.).

Well, my Firefox keeps hanging up, making the whole computer slow, and I often have to Force Quit it. If that's true, I wonder if the OS X build is different (and suckier).

Could be.
It also might just be time to cut your losses and reinstall the OS, which is usually what I do when it gets that slow. (If that's a thing you can do with a Mac.)

I switched to Chrome several years ago, and haven't been able to go back. I'm pretty much a happy customer.
