Anyone else get it?
I must say, I'm kinda enjoying Nintendo having full retail games downloadable from the online store.

Yeah. Not quite sure what I think of it. It is rather different from PM and TTYD, in some ways perhaps more so than SPM.

It's weird that it's in levels. I feel like that does make it more like Paper Mario, though with a battle system that is more reminiscent of the original two.

If I ever get a 3DS, I'll be sure to pick it up. I've been praying for Nintendo to go back to PM/TTYD with the battle system for so long now. SPM was great, but I really think TTYD hit the nail on the head with a great battle system.
If this is a step back to more PM-esque battles, I know I'll enjoy it.

So I finished the game, and I overall enjoyed it. It's weird because of things like there's no XP or partners, but you get used to that. It's a different experience, but I feel like the Paper Mario series is made for experimenting like that.

Would you say it's worth getting a 3DS for? Between this and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward coming out, and then NSMB2 and Mario 3D Land already out, I think there's finally enough of a game library out for me to be interested in one.

On its own, no, but as mentioned, it adds onto the other games enough that a 3DS is definitely worth it. I get a lot of use out of mine.

What are some other games you've played and enjoyed recently, particularly on 3DS? There's a $150-170 3DS bundle I've got my eye on for Black Friday but I think I need more convincing before I pull the trigger...

I actually spent a lot of time with the ambassador SNES games, when I first got it. And the built in Find Mii is actually pretty fun, and also uses a bunch of time.
Otherwise:
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Dive
Super Mario 3D Land
Pushmo
Mighty Switch Force
New Super Mario Bros 2 is still good, as long as you're not Mario'd out.
Kid Icarus seems good, but I have a really hard time with it, being left-handed.

You've also got the remakes, if you've always wanted to have portable Ocarina of Time or Star Fox 64 (which you can now select levels to play, or so I've heard).

Mario Kart 7 is good, though not revolutionary. I LOVED Kid Icarus, though the controls are uncomfortable, even for someone who is right-handed. I did get used to them, and they afford great precision in shooting, but it is a bit annoying. But the in game dialog is hilarious and frequent, and I love the adjustable difficulty and gameplay. The fact that it was made by the same man who was behind Brawl really shows, too. Jace's other recommendations also seem solid to me, for the ones I've played anyway.
Jacehan, have you tried using a circle pad pro on Kid Icarus? I've heard that helps since you can then use the right analog pad instead.

I have. It does help, though I guess only to the same level of awkwardness that being right-handed does. I really wish that I could just use dual-stick controls since I have the circle pad pro.

A video-game company whose most popular character is left-handed really ought to produce left-handed versions of its handhelds.

Brandon: "I had casual sex this weekend." Alex: "I had sex too, with someone I love who accepts and loves me." Kodi: "I cleaned up my .emacs."
Or they can just force the character to become right-handed once he is on a system that requires you to use your right hand, and they did in Skyward Sword.

Best Buy still has an original 3DS + Mario 3D Land bundle for $150 but I'm having difficulties deciding if I want to get it or not... argh. The thing is, I might, if only because I don't know if I'll be able to get a new 3DS for that price at any other time of the year, let alone with a game included.

Borrowed a friend's 3DS and started Virtue's Last Reward last night. I also have NSMB2 and PM: Sticker Star on hand. I think I going to make it a gaming weekend.

Been playing the heck out of my new 3DS.
Finished playing all the way through Virtue's Last Reward last night (finished the final ending at about 4AM); what a mind screw that was. I think I overall enjoyed and found 999 more compelling, but I was thinking about Virtue's Last Reward and its endings for at least a good hour or so after I finished.
Ran through all of MK7's tracks for the first time in 50CC grand prix; got 3 stars on everything but the first Special Cup. I love most of the new courses except for the Rosalina Ice course, and I thought the choices for the throwbacks (Waluigi Pinball, Airship Fortress, and the forest one from MK Wii in particular) were great.
Started playing NSMB2; finished through the first world. Seems like kind of a slog right now, but I'll probably end up playing through it just the same.
And don't worry, I start on Paper Mario: Sticker Star soon.

Wait, so are we calling the 3ds a worthwhile purchase after all?

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

I'd say it's been worth it for the price I paid for it. I got my 3DSXL for only $70 after using some of my credit card rewards to get a Best Buy gift card, AND the system had Mario Kart 7 preinstalled on it. So that in itself was a good deal. And I found a guy who unloaded a bunch of 3DS games on me (Virtue's Last Reward, Paper Mario, and New SMB2) for a good price, so I think it's been worth it for me.

So I just finished what was the first major boss in PM:SS and Kersti just told me that I used a lot of stickers and there was probably a more efficient way to beat the boss. I'm at sort of a loss because I'm one of those 'hang onto every item' kind of RPG player, so naturally this battle system is kind of a nightmare for me. The overabundance of stickers available in the field suggests I'll never really run out of attacks though, so should I stop avoiding random battles and conserving too much firepower? I'm starting to think it's going to hamper how much I enjoy this game.
