Has anyone ever done this? If I shower in the mornings, which is rare, sometimes I don't turn on the lights because it hurts the eyes. I'm not saying it has to be pitch black or anything.
But has this happened to anyone?

Not really, but I've showered without the light on if the daylight is strong enough... but I don't even like doing that.
Showering in the dark is the worst. I turn the lights on so I can actually see everything. The worst though is showering in pitch black darkness, which I've had to do a couple times (both here in the US and abroad). You'd think showering is a mostly instinctual thing but it is next to impossible in total darkness.

When I had a window in the shower, in the winter, I would totally leave the lights off and pop the window. You get the freezing air and the steaming water and it's just the bees' knees.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.

I don't recall doing this. It sounds a little dangerous, anyway. Hundreds of Americans die every year from slipping in a bathtub, you know. Most of them old, I'm sure, but still.

I'm not dead yet.
Ah. I have one of those little square showers, not really a bathtub. I guess trying to maneuver in a bathtub is a little more threatening.

When I lived in an apartment without a bathroom window, I would sometimes turn off the lights to shower. Super peaceful. Hard to get things done, yeah, but as someone who values that certain kind of introspection that only happens in the shower, lights off is the way to go.

I love showering in perfect darkness.

Hey, I have some internet access. Well, here's the scoop: in this house, they have a lot of lights that only activate when you cause motion. So when in the shower I have, the light goes out, and it is really quite dark.
It sucks.

The motion of washing is insufficient for light?

I'd forgotten that Mark had a motion-sensitive light and read James's post as some kind of weird joke like you'd create sparks or something when you wash yourself.
I did, also. Yeah I feel like it is kind of like I made this topic on purpose somehow, perhaps anticipating unconsciously the situation I would find myself in.
I should clarify, the room is partitioned, somewhat, and the motion sensor is on the other side (facing the doorway)
