I rewatched the anime Vandread (and its completely superior sequel, Vandread: The Second Stage) on Netflix where in the far future, men and women fled Earth and separated themselves from each other, to the point after many generations, men and women no longer considered themselves the same species. Wacky hijinks ensue when a supernatural force merges a men's and women's two ships together and they have to learn to live together. It's gender politics in the form of a space opera.

This was relevant in my head when I started typing it.
