The joy is that I was recently accepted into pharmacy school. My grades and PCAT score were good, but I was nervous because I didn't feel the interview went particularly well.
The sorrow is that this morning, my father woke me up and told me that my grandmother had died. She'd been in the nursing home for some time, and she'd not been in good health, but it was still surprising and still feels surreal. I mean, she'd been in the hospital several times, and we thought it was coming then. I guess I just assumed that when she died, it would be that way, not a sudden phone call. I had thought she was breathing heavier than usual when I went to see her yesterday. And my mom's taking it particularly rough. She was an only child, and her father died when she was three because of a drunk driver, so they were very close.

Coincidentally, my own grandmother died on New Year's Eve of 2010, in the middle of the grad-school application process for me.

It sounds like she was kept company pretty well by people who loved her. That's the best way to go. Sorry for your loss.
Congrats on pharmacy school; I'm witnessing a few friends go through the end of nursing school right now (having watched them go through pretty much the whole thing from application to now senior practicum) and you should be proud of the steps you're making.
I'm sorry for your loss; as you know I lost a grandparent recently too and I know how hard it was both on me and the rest of my family. You have my condolences.

Do well in pharmacy school! My friend just finished and he got a really good job. And he's a royal screwup too so that's good news for you. Sorry for your loss, though. Take care of your mum.
