Over the weekend I played through Super Mario World and 100%'d it in about... six hours? Not all at once, but cumulative playing time. I found out that you trigger the sprite changes not by taking the final Star Road unlocked after beating Funky back to Yoshi's House, but taking any path out of the Special World after completing its eight levels. My plan was to beat all of the Special World levels and then beat Bowser via the Front Door before making the change, but I guess that's not possible.
The level that gave me the most trouble was Outrageous, the second to last Special World level, and then probably Mondo, the level with the changing water levels. Didn't have too much trouble outside of the Special World.
A couple weekends ago I played completely through Super Mario RPG with a hyper-offense oriented team (Mario, Bowser, and Geno). It's a completely different (and slightly more strategic) game without a dedicated healer on the team, and abusing Geno Boost to get the defense boost was very crucial to staying alive in tougher battles. It was extremely satisfying to see Mario consistently do damage in the 400s to normal enemies, though. The only battle I couldn't do was Culex, because there was no way for the team to survive four elemental spells and Culex's attack in a row with no healing. Everyone else wasn't too much of a challenge, except for Smithy, who put up a really good fight. I ran out of HP healing items and Pick Me Ups pretty early in the battle and got lucky.
Tonight I ran through Mega Man X for the first time using nothing but the X Buster on the bosses, which I'd never done before. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and I learned some new things about the boss attack patterns.
I think the next game I'm going to try to go through is Super Mario Bros 3 without warping, but I know that'll take a bit longer than some of the other ones.

Without warping? World 7 dude... good luck.
I've actually played through SMB3 a few times, but only a handful of times without warping. World 7 isn't too tough; World 6 actually gives me a bit more trouble.

Some friends and I played through SMB3 last summer. It's not too tough, just the final levels.
Growing up I only played with Mario, Bowser, Geno. Dunno why. Obviously the Princess is way better than Bowser.

I recall liking Mario + Bowser + Princess. Princess is obviously superior to Mallow and I found Bowser a lot easier to use than Geno. I don't know what it is everybody sees in Geno.
Isn't he stronger in just about all ways than Bowser? Better speed, magic, maybe even physical strength, etc... and Geno Whirl instant kills all non-boss enemies (also... the Ninja chef guy... right? And it KO's Exor's eyes I think...)

I'm playing through the DS version of Chrono Trigger right now. Doing the bonus Lost Sanctum stuff before finishing up the endgame sidequests AND THEN FINAL BOSS TIME WOOOO
Probably gonna rock a party of Chrono/Frog/Ayla...but we'll see.

Maybe I couldn't get the timing down on his attacks or something. I'm not sure.
Bowser has higher initial physical strength, which is fine if you're going for a straight offensive build. Geno's natural speed is higher too, so on a team with Mario and Bowser he actually becomes a great support character since he can Geno Boost his allies' ATK through the roof and also patch up the holes in their DEF (especially Bowser's Special Defense.)
And Geno Whirl can't kill one of Exor's eyes instantly, but it can take out Exor himself after you manually take out a single eye.

Well Peach was a must for me, so it was only a matter of selecting Bowser or Geno.
One really has no excuse for not playing as Bowser in any game he's playable. I'm mean, c'mon, he's a fire-breathing demonic dragon-turtle with bushy orange eyebrows. Who else would you want to play as, Chuck Norris?
