It's one of those books I remember reading twice in high school, not liking the first time, but enjoying the second time, even though I probably couldn't tell you now very much about specific plot details.
I got invited to a pre-screening of the movie but the invite said "period dress highly encouraged" and I own no such clothes. Nor do I think Filipinos lived on Long Island back in the 1920s, but I could be wrong about that.
Admittedly, I'd probably enjoy the movie adaptation of Gatsby even more if they took some direction from the Hark! A Vagrant comics. (http://www.harkavagrant.com/?id=259) Kate Beaton is a genius.

I'm kind of looking forward too. The party scenes do show a level of spectacular excess that can only really be captured with the 3d.
Also if you like Kate Beaton, check out Michael Kupperman, whom it is my especial cause to champion. He's a little goofier, and his high-browness (while still present) sits more daintily in the background.
