My surviving grandmother has strange Alzheimer's symptoms. First of all, she confuses television with reality from time to time, She gave everyone a Kleenex once to prepare for the end of the world while my sister and I were watching the series 1 Doctor Who. Another time, she claimed the Doctor was real and "one of her people."
Today she woke up, and told my mother that they needed to split a necklace into two because it would please the people of our two countries (hers and my mother's, apparently).

Not always down, but her emotions are usually appropriate for what situation she thinks she's in. She seems genuinely worried that people are dying in this war between the countries and wants to do something about it.
