Okay, yeah, I said I hate it (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/2000083-paper-mario-social/66144669), and I do, but it is also beneficial when it's super hot outside but the subways are still cool because the heat hasn't managed to work its way down yet. (I'm not sure this is precisely because of heat rise, probably more the slow absorption of the ground, but whatever.) So the subway was a pleasant escape from heat.

Of course, it won't stay that way.

Yeah, my worst memories of being overheated in New York City are from subway platforms. But the air-conditioned cars make it all worth it.

The ground releases heat and cools off easily because the air near the ground, when it gets heated, rises away from the ground and is replaced by cool air. So it's both.

I'm looking forward to the high number of elevated platforms I wait for trains on during the workday.

Willis, it seems like every other time you post, I need to look up a word that's in the OED or Urban Dictionary but not both.
