Instead of playing a song without the lead singer and you filling in, they'll play scenes from movies/TV without the dialogue so you and friends can fill in and act out the scene.
I was surprised, because he usually has terrible ideas, but this is a decent one.

Sounds fun. Although, you might as well go all the way and act out the scene instead of just voicing the dialogue, which brings you to ordinary theater.

This is really fun. There's a theatre group nearby where I went to school that did this once or twice a month, where they'd essentially live-redub old, bad movies. I remember it being a thing on Whose Line is it Anyway, albeit rarely.
